Shaping peace together

On September 21 each year, international Peace Day is celebrated around the world.
This year, it has become more evident than ever that we are not enemies of each other. On the contrary, our common enemy is a tireless virus that threatens our health, our safety and our way of life. COVID-19 has plunged our world into turmoil and we have been a strong reminder that what is happening in one part of the world can have consequences all over the world.

The children prepared presentations on characters who received the Nobel Peace Prize: Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Najib Mahfouz, Alphonse Laveran, Wangari Maathai,…
They worked on a picasso painting: Guernica, which represents war, and prepared their own drawings depicting Peace: Painica.
They also created a sculpture on this theme of Peace whose black base represents the Covid covered by hope and peace represented by the doves they made themselves in origami.
